Watch James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" at SF Giants' annual Metallica Night

ABC/Randy HolmesThe San Francisco Giants held their fifth annual Metallica Night on Monday at AT&T Park, and frontman James Hetfield and guitarist Kirk Hammett were there to kick off the festivities with an instrumental rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner." You can watch the duo's national anthem performance via Metallica's Twitter.

During the event, the Bay Area metal legends visited players in the dugout and auctioned off special autographed merch for charity.

Metallica has always had a big presence in the Bay Area sports scene: the band has also performed before Golden State Warriors basketball games and San Jose Sharks hockey games.

Metallica is currently touring North America in support of their new album, Self-Destruct.
