Cold War Kids debut video for "weird, special" Bishop Briggs duet, "So Tied Up"

ABC/Randy HolmesCold War Kids have premiered the video for their song "So Tied Up," which features guest vocals from Bishop Briggs. The darkly comedic clip stars a couple who continually try to kill each other in increasingly ridiculous ways, like a romantic comedy version of a Final Destination movie. You can watch the video now on YouTube.

As Cold War Kids frontman Nathan Willett frontman tells ABC Radio, he'd wanted to work with Bishop Briggs since he heard her song "River" playing on the radio.

"I sent her, I think, a couple songs, and 'So Tied Up' ended up just being the perfect one to have that kind of like male-female, light-and-dark [dynamic] and struggle," Willett says. "Her voice and my voice, I really think there's a weird, special thing there."

Willett feels lucky he was able to collaborate with Bishop, given all the buzz around her.

"I feel like in a year, I don't know if we would've got to have her," Willett laughs. "I think she's gonna blow up and do really well."

"So Tied Up" is a track off of Cold War Kids' new album LA Divine, which the band is currently supporting on a North American tour with Young the Giant. Willett says the band has been experimenting with their songs in the live setting, especially their older material.

"A lot of people, I think, want to hear the closest thing to the record as they can, which is kinda dumb," he says. "You can hear the record at home. You should be hearing something different and it should be kinda messier and more spontaneous and more exciting."

Cold War Kids' tour continues Thursday, August 10 in Boise, Idaho.
