The musicians were showing their solidarity with NFL players who kneel in protest during the national anthem.

Friday, President Donald Trump declared that NFL team owners should fire players who've been kneeling during the anthem. He continued his criticism on Twitter Saturday.

"If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL, or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect," Trump began, continuing in a follow-up tweet, "Our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem. If not, YOU'RE FIRED. Find something else to do!"

In response to those comments, many more NFL players joined in protesting during Sunday's games. On Saturday, Stevie Wonder knelt on both knees during his set at New York City's Global Citizen Festival to show his support of the players, saying it was "in prayer for our planet, our future, our leaders of the world, and our globe."

Additionally, Prophets of Rage shared a photo of them kneeling during a concert in Mountain View, California last September. All the members of the rap-rock supergroup are wearing Colin Kaepernick jerseys, the currently unsigned quarterback who started the national anthem protest.
