John Fogerty says he's proud to perform with his sons at his Las Vegas residency dates

Credit: Myriam SantosJohn Fogerty launches a new six-date run tonight as part of his ongoing Las Vegas residency at the Wynn resort's Encore Theater. The show has been dubbed John Fogerty Performs Creedence Clearwater Revival Hits, but the 72-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer's also includes some of his memorable solo tunes in his set.

Fogerty tells ABC Radio that a highlight of his Vegas performances has been getting to include his musical sons Shane and Tyler in the shows.

"Shane plays really great guitar. He's a regular member of my band," John points out. "And Tyler I've been having do a little cameo, I guess. We do a couple of songs together."

Fogerty says that both of sons are talented musicians, but he's noticed that audiences have been really taking to Tyler, who at age 25 is a year younger than Shane.

"Tyler's got a sound as a singer, and you can certainly tell that something got passed on," John notes with a laugh. "So, it was really quite an eye-opener to have people running down into the front and kind of making a big fuss over Tyler. I was really proud. It was great."

Fogerty also tells ABC Radio that he enjoys the Vegas engagements because of the convenience of not having to travel to get to the next gig.

"We do a little soundcheck usually and then, you know, maybe go get some lunch or, on a day off, have dinner together," John explains. "[I]t's just a little more relaxed, a little less hectic than having to get on a bus and travel five hours to the next city."

The Vegas shows currently are the only dates on Fogerty's 2018 schedule.

Here's his full list of performances:

1/10, 12-13, 17, 19-20 -- Las Vegas, NV, Wynn Las Vegas - Encore Theater
