Linkin Park's Phoenix launches "Member Guest" podcast

ABC/Jeff NeiraLinkin Park bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell has launched his own podcast. Titled Member Guest, the podcast finds Phoenix, his friend Mark and professional golfer Brendan Steele talking about "golf, music and less important things."

The first guest on the podcast is Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows. Along with the aforementioned topics, they also discussed the Chester Bennington benefit concert Linkin Park played last fall in honor of their late frontman. Shadows, who was one of the performers during the show, also lost a band mate when drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan died in 2009.

Talking about the memorial show, Phoenix says that four or five days after Bennington's death, he realized he wanted to do something in the singer's honor at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, which Linkin Park had been scheduled to play that fall.

"Then reaching out to the other guys and just saying, 'This is kinda what I'm thinking right now, what are you guys thinking?'," Phoenix remembers. "And Mike [Shinoda] was like, 'Yeah, I'm on the same page, that's exactly what I'm thinking.' And a couple of the other guys were like, 'Nope, I haven't gotten there at all, I'm not thinking that at all.'"

He continues, "Gradually, the five of us were like, 'Yeah, that makes a ton of sense, that feels right.'"
