The Who's Roger Daltrey plans to play a series of solo shows in 2018; announces first date

ABC/Richard CartwrightShortly after Who guitarist Pete Townshend announced that he was taking what he says will be a yearlong hiatus from the band, frontman Roger Daltrey lined up a series of solo concerts in October and November of 2017. The singer has now revealed that he's planning to schedule more solo gigs during the early part of 2018, and has confirmed the first date -- a March 13 show at the Bob Hope Theatre in Stockton, California.

Tickets for the concert are on sale now via One dollar from each ticket sold will be donated to Teen Cancer America, the charity that Daltrey and Townshend co-founded to help fund the creation of special recreational areas geared specifically toward young people with cancer.

For his solo concerts, Daltrey is backed by a group featuring most of the members of The Who's touring band, including guitarist/backing vocalist Simon Townshend -- Pete's younger brother. Roger's recent shows featured set lists that included Who songs that the group rarely plays live.
