Listen to new Mark Knopfler song, "Back on the Dance Floor," from his forthcoming solo album

Credit: Derek HudsonFounding Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler has released a new track from his forthcoming solo studio album, Down the Road Wherever, which is due out November 16. "Back on the Dance Floor" is available now as a digital download and via streaming services.

You also can check out the track, a simmering mid-tempo tune with touches of blues and soul, on YouTube.

Knopfler previously released a song called "Good On You Son" from the upcoming album as a digital single, and also debuted an official video for the tune. Fans who pre-order Down the Road Wherever now will receive free instant downloads of both "Good On You Son" and "Back on the Dance Floor."

As previously reported, Knopfler will launch a 2019 North American tour in support of Down the Road Wherever on August 16 in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

In other news, playing cards signed by Knopfler and displayed in a frame will go for bid as part of the latest StarCards charity auction, which will begin this Sunday, November 4, at 4 p.m. ET. The sale will raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children's Charity, a facility in London that treats seriously ill young people. Visit for more details.
