Mastodon's Brent Hinds missed Grammys due to hit-and-run incident

ABC/Randy HolmesMastodon finally won a Grammy earlier this year after being previously nominated three times. Unfortunately, guitarist Brent Hinds wasn't there to see it, and now we know why.

In an Instagram post, Hinds reveals that he couldn't attend the ceremony because he was involved in a motorcycle accident.

"I was involved in a hit and run on my motorcycle that ended me up in [horse emoji] pistola," Hinds writes, presumably meaning "hospital."

"I got absolutely NO shout out from my best friends/band mates," he adds, along with a broken-heart emoji. "I know they love me and just be havin stupid nervousness, but still."

Hinds also included a number of grisly photos of himself post-accident, which are not for the faint of heart.

Mastodon will launch a European tour in January in continued support of their new album, Emperor of Sand.
