Sleeping with Sirens: Soundtrack to Team USA, aspiring bobsledders

Credit: Erik RojasIf you're planning on watching the Winter Olympics, be prepared to hear a lot of Sleeping with Sirens. The band's single "Legends" is the official song of Team USA at the 2018 Games, which are being held in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

"It's very exciting," frontman Kellin Quinn tells ABC Radio. "I never thought that I would be a part of something like the Olympics with my music."

Having their song soundtrack the Winter Olympics is especially cool for Sleeping with Sirens, since, as children of the '90s, they're big fans of Cool Runnings, the hit comedy based on the real-life Jamaican bobsled team. In fact, they actually used to recite the movie's "I see pride" speech before shows.

Guitarist Jack Fowler adds that his favorite Winter Olympic sport is bobsledding. "Because all I picture is us five trying to bobsled," he laughs. "Who would be in the front and who would be in the back?"

The band definitely agrees that guitarist Nick Martin should steer the bobsled, based exclusively on his ability drive in the notorious traffic of Los Angeles.

"Nick will be steering," says bassist Justin Hills. "We've all been in his car while he's been driving in L.A. He's fine, I trust him."

The 2018 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony will be held Friday, February 9. The proceedings will air in primetime on NBC starting at 8 p.m. ET.
