K.Flay soundtracks Tomb Raider adventures in "Run for Your Life" video

Night Street/Interscope K.Flay has shared the video for her new song "Run for Your Life," which she recorded for the upcoming film Tomb Raider. The clip, streaming now on YouTube, mixes red-bathed footage of the "Blood in the Cut" singer with scenes from the movie.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the musician, born Kristine Flaherty, says it was "so exciting" to write "Run for Your Life" for Tomb Raider, since the film "centers on such a strong female character."

"I really connected with that sense of independence in the movie," Flaherty says. "The song is about doing everything in your power to survive when the odds are stacked against you, when people doubt you, when you've been left behind. Instead of cowering, you rise up."

Tomb Raider stars Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander as the iconic video game character Lara Croft, who's previous been played by Angelina Jolie. The film hits theaters this Friday, March 16.

K.Flay is currently on a headlining tour in support of her new album, Every Where Is Some Where. This summer, she'll be touring with Thirty Seconds to Mars.
