Metallica announces "Day of Service" with All Within My Hands charity foundation

ABC/Randy HolmesMetallica has announced a new initiative with their All Within My Hands charity foundation.

On May 23, the metal legends are launching a "Day of Service," during which fans are encouraged to volunteer at food banks located in the cities where the band played on last summer's North American tour.

Volunteers will receive a special t-shirt "commemorating Metallica's first united day of service." Visit for the list of participating food banks and registration info.

If you don't live close to any of the participating food banks or are unavailable on May 23, Metallica encourages you to visit to find a food bank near you.

Metallica will launch another North American tour in September.
