System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian's side project will release a new song next Monday, April 23.

The track will be the first preview of the long-awaited second Scars on Broadway album, the follow-up to the band's 2008 self-titled debut.  But while Scars on Broadway will be releasing new music, new material from System of a Down, who haven't released an album since 2005's Hypnotize, is still in the theoretical stages.

In an interview with Rolling Stone last December, frontman Serj Tankian said the band has worked on new music, but "still haven't come eye to eye on how things should be done for us to be able to move forward with it."

System of a Down will embark on a U.S. tour this fall starting October 13 in San Bernardino, California.
