Early Nirvana drummer Chad Channing has "no regrets" about leaving band

Mark and Colleen Hayward/Getty ImagesBefore Dave Grohl, Chad Channing manned the drum kit for Nirvana. Channing  was the drummer for the legendary grunge band from 1988 to 1990, and played on their 1989 debut album Bleach.  After Channing left, Nirvana skyrocketed to super-stardom with their 1991 album Nevermind, but Channing says he has "no regrets."

Speaking with Finland's KaaosTV, Channing says, "I've always sort of thought that things just sort of fall in place for a reason. For example, maybe I was that perfect puzzle piece for the band at the time, and then they needed another piece to do other things and stuff."

"Our differences were strictly on a musical level," he adds. "We always stayed friends."

Channing was in Finland to perform with the Nirvana cover band The Nirvana Experience. He's also played in a variety of original bands, most recently the group Before Cars.
