Mathew Knowles on daughter Beyoncé versus Michael Jackson: "Beyoncé's childhood was somewhat different"

Johnny Nunez/WireImageYou may remember Chance the Rapper saying in his commencement speech at New Orleans' Dillard University this past Saturday that Beyoncé is "the greatest performer of all time," even better than late pop icon Michael Jackson.

Bey's father, Mathew Knowles, tells ABC Radio that Chance was not "a hundred percent accurate" in his address when he likened Beyoncé's childhood to that of Michael Jackson's.

He explains, "When she was a kid, she didn't have this thing where she... felt that she was unhappy. I have to say, I think Beyoncé's childhood was somewhat different."

Michael Jackson's troubled relationship with his father Joe Jackson has been well-documented throughout the years in the news and the 1992 television miniseries, The Jacksons: An American Dream

As for Destiny's Child, the Racism from the Eyes of a Child author, who still manages the legendary group, says that a potential post-Coachella reunion album or tour would be all up to the discretion of Bey, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams

"Ultimately, that's the artist's decision. Putting out an album or doing a tour. I can only encourage them to do that. I think it's important," he says.

"The maximum impact would be in the next two to three years versus doing it 10 years or 15 years from now. Just from a strategic standpoint."
