Paul McCartney confirmed to star in new "Carpool Karaoke" segment on "The Late Late Show"

Craig Sugden/CBS ©2018 CBS Broadcasting, Inc.It's official! Paul McCartney will indeed appear in a new installment of "Carpool Karaoke" that will be featured on an episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden with the program airs from London from June 18 to June 21.

During the segment, McCartney will take Corden on a tour of his hometown of Liverpool, U.K.  The two also sing a variety of Sir Paul's classic songs together and surprise unsuspecting people on the street. The segment also features an exclusive sing-along performance that will include two brand-new McCartney tunes.

As previously reported, McCartney and Corden were spotted in Liverpool on Saturday visiting a variety of local sites related to The Beatles, including Paul's childhood home, Penny Lane and a life-size statue of the Fab Four located on the city's waterfront. McCartney also played an intimate show that day in front of 50 people at the Liverpool pub The Philharmonic.

Meanwhile, it's been revealed that Cher, one of the previously announced guests who will appear during The Late Late Show's London episodes, will take part in a new "Spill Your Guts" segment. In addition, actors Damian Lewis and Ruth Wilson and director J.J. Abrams have been added to the list of guests for the London shows.

The Late Late Show airs Monday through Thursday on CBS at 12:37 a.m. ET/11:37 p.m. CT.
