Disturbed fans vote "heavy" over "ballad" for first single from new album

Credit: Travis ShinnAs Disturbed gears up to release new music, the Chicago metallers launched a poll asking fans to pick the direction of the first single from their next album: "heavy," or a "ballad," à la the band's hit cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence." Well, the results are now in, and it wasn't much of a contest.

Of the over 80,000 people who voted, 83 percent chose "heavy," while only 17 percent picked "ballad." "The consensus was overwhelming," Disturbed says of the outcome.

Along with the poll result, Disturbed has shared a new video teasing the date August 16, so presumably we'll get to hear that heavy single on Thursday.

The new album will be the follow-up to Disturbed's 2015 comeback effort, Immortalized.
