Bob Dylan concert to mark reopening of historic theater The Met Philadelphia

Credit: William ClaxtonBob Dylan has extended his recently announced fall U.S. tour into December, and the latest concert added to the end of the trek is a historic one. The folk-rock legend will headline a December 3 show in Philadelphia that will mark the opening night of the newly renovated venue The Met Philadelphia.

The performance also will be Dylan's 50th concert in the City of Brotherly Love. Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday, September 14, at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster.com.

The Dylan concert will be the first of a series of shows by various artists that will be held at The Met Philadelphia. In support of the local community, concert promoter Live Nation will donate 25 cents from every ticket sold to shows at venue to Philadelphia public schools.

The Met Philadelphia was built in 1908 by opera entrepreneur Oscar Hammerstein.  The theater currently is undergoing a restoration costing $56 million.
