Alice Merton debuts new song, "Why So Serious"

Paper PlanesAlice Merton channels her inner Joker in a new song called "Why So Serious."

The upbeat tune, available now for digital download, is accompanied by a video that finds the German-Canadian-English musician walking down a street and passing increasingly strange sights, ranging from a running inflatable T-Rex to a businessman with a cheeseburger for a head. You can watch the clip now on YouTube.

"Why So Serious" follows Merton's No Roots EP, which features the hit title track and the single "Lash Out." She's currently working on her full-length debut album, which, according to Billboard, is called Mint and will be released January 18.

Merton will launch a U.S. tour in October.
