21 Savage's manager claims she asked "several artists" to support the rapper onstage at the Grammys

Matt SwinskyDespite earning two Grammy nominations for his "Rockstar" collaboration with Post Malone, 21 Savage's absence from the Grammy Awards on Sunday night was barely mentioned by any of his music peers.  Now, the the rapper's manager, Kei Henderson, is speaking out.

According to Henderson, 21's team was hoping other artists would rally behind the rapper and help bring awareness to his imprisonment during the annual awards ceremony.

"We reached out to several artists to perform Savage's verse and/or stand in solidarity on stage on his behalf," Henderson tweeted out on Monday morning.

While the artists were not named, Savage's frequent collaborators Drake and Cardi B both won awards on Sunday evening. In addition, Malone performed the 21-assisted "Rockstar" single at the awards show as part of a three-song medley.

photo of Malone backstage wearing a t-shirt which read "21 Savage" did appear online, which Henderson responded to.

Henderson tweeted that she "appreciate[ed]" Post's gesture, but noted that she'd attempted to get further "recognition for Savage during the performance of 'Rockstar.'"

As previously reported, 21 remains in ICE custody after his arrest during Super Bowl weekend.  The rapper, a U.K. national, entered the U.S. legally in 2005, but after his visa expired in 2006, he and his family remaineed in the country. He now faces the possibility of deportation.
