Black Twitter drags BET after it shades Nicki Minaj during the Grammys

Paul Zimmerman/Getty ImagesBET has some major explaining to do. During its live-tweet of the 61st annual Grammy awards, the network threw some major shade at New York rapper Nicki Minaj.

It all happened after Cardi B took home the Grammy for Best Rap Album, which made her the first solo female artist to win in that category. But as fans applauded Cardi B for her win, BET decided to diss Nicki.

"Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront," read the now-deleted tweet from BET's account, which promoted the story of Cardi's win.

Fans were quick to take BET to task.

"@BET y’all supposed to uplift black people especially black women... but you do this type of foolery when Nicki is the reason why you got a lot of ratings and brought the show back to life," one fan tweeted. "Y’all are f***ing canceled."

One fan stated the obvious, writing, "Nicki Minaj helped your trash a** network out for years; NEVER AGAIN."

"As much as I wanted to go see Nicki at the BET experience I pray to God she cancel that s***," sharedanother. "@BET  F*** YALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL."

As the fan noted, Nicki Minaj is scheduled to perform at the BET Experience this year, along with Cardi B, but fans feel that Nicki may not be interested in appearing now.

BET has yet to publicly respond to its shady tweet.
