Watch now: Taron Egerton sings Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" in "Rocketman" sneak peek

Paramount PicturesWe’ve still got a few more months before the Elton John biopic Rocketman hits theaters, but now we've got a sneak peek of exactly what star Taron Egerton will bring to the role.

In a new behind-the-scenes clip, we get to hear Egerton in the recording booth singing Elton’s classic song “Tiny Dancer” for the film. The clip also contains interviews with Egerton, director Dexter Fletcher and music producer Giles Martin.

“Elton said, ‘I don’t think I’ve heard anyone sing my songs better than Taron,'” Martin says. “And the great thing about Elton is that he wants Taron’s interpretations of his songs.”

Egerton, meanwhile, calls making the film “the greatest joy of my professional life.”

The actor, who appeared with Elton in the 2017 movie Kingsman: The Golden Circle, adds, "The thing about playing someone so beloved, all we can do is give our heartfelt interpretation of his life and his music.”

Rocketman, also starring Jamie Bell and Richard Madden, hits theaters May 31.
