Vampire Weekend earns unprecedented chart feat thanks to "Father of the Bride"

ABC/Randy HolmesWhen Vampire Weekend's new album Father of the Bride debuted atop this week's Billboard 200, not only did it give the band their third straight number-one record, it also earned the NYC indie rockers an unprecedented chart feat.

As Billboard explains, VW is the only act to boast three number-one albums without ever having charted a song on the Hot 100. Every one of the other 117 artists who've topped the Billboard 200 three or more times -- including Arcade Fire, Green Day, Dave Matthews Band and Jack White -- have notched at least one entry on the Hot 100.

While Vampire Weekend has never gained any traction on the Hot 100, the group has had success on other charts. On Billboard's Alternative Songs tally, for example, they've had eight entries, including the Father of the Bride lead single "Harmony Hall," which peaked at number eight on the ranking.

Father of the Bride, the long-awaited follow-up to 2013's Modern Vampires of the City, finally arrived on May 3. Vampire Weekend will launch a North American headlining tour behind the new album June 5 in Toronto.
