Bronx artist Angelica Vila says her charting single "More in the Morning" is "a motivation" for more great music

Dennis LeupoldBronx native Angelica Vila is bringing her New York swag to the airwaves with her official debut single "More in the Morning." Villa says seeing the track -- which is currently at number 30 on the R&B/Hip Hop airplay charts -- do so well is great, but she's not letting this early success get to her head.

"It's a motivation," Vila tells ABC Radio. "I don't like to think about it too much, because I don't ever want to feel like satisfied. Or, I don't want to ever feel like 'OK, I'm on the charts. I made it, I did it.' I don't like to think that."

She continues, "So it's like, 'OK, I'm on the charts, I need to be number one. OK, I'm at number one, I've got to do this.' I feel like it's always about elevation, rather than being happy [with] where you at."

Vila, who was discovered by Fat Joe after he saw her freestyle to DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” on Instagram, says her single is just the tip of the iceberg of what she has in store for fans -- including a full-length project that's already completed.

The singer won't give away too much about what to expect from the upcoming project, however, because it's apparently going to be totally different from what you've heard from her before.

"Well, the world don't really know my sound, because I haven't really pushed a lot of my music out there," Vila explains. "So, being that 'More in the Morning''s my first single, it's like, 'Hmm.' Everybody's wondering what do I have coming next."

She adds, "I can't wait for them to hear my sound because I feel like it's gonna catch them by surprise."
