Shinedown's Eric Bass drops off tour after suffering back injury

ABC/Randy HolmesShinedown bassist Eric Bass has dropped off the band's current tour after suffering a back injury.

"Unfortunately, Eric had to fly home last night -- very uncomfortably, actually," guitarist Zach Myers said in a video posted Wednesday evening. "His back is very messed up. He's actually at the doctor right now, and we're going to see what the next steps are."

In his own Instagram post, Bass wrote, "What a difference 48 hours makes. From the stage and beast workouts two days ago, to @westashleywellness and #southeasternspineinstitute @sspineinstitite today. Gotta get healthy again."

Bass didn't play with Shinedown during their show in Kansas City, Missouri last night, and will miss out on their upcoming set at Rocklahoma on Friday and their show in Dallas Sunday. Josh Sturm, who previously filled in for Myers last year when his new child was born, will handle bass duties.

Following those shows, Shinedown will launch a summer headlining tour June 21 in The Woodlands, Texas. Bass is expected to be back for that run.
