Matty Healy and company earned the Best Contemporary Song prize for their A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships single "Love It If We Made It," as well as the prestigious Songwriters of the Year award.

"All at once daring, vulnerable and recklessly honest, The 1975's songwriting on A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships stands out as a vivid picture of modernity," the Ivors Academy said. "These songs are a quintessential snapshot of the emotional complexities of life in the here and now, but with all the hallmarks of a body of work that will stand the test of time."

The Ivor Novello Awards, named after a popular Welsh composer, singer and actor who was famous in the first part of the 20th century, honor excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing, and are judged by songwriters. The awards describe themselves as the "pinnacle of musical achievement and peer recognition."
