Judah & the Lion premieres stop-motion animated video for "Why Did You Run?"

ABC/Randy HolmesJudah & the Lion has premiered the video for "Why Did You Run?", a single from the band's new album, Pep Talks.

The clip, streaming now on YouTube, uses stop-motion animation to tell the heartwarming story of the budding friendship between two young students.

"Stop motion allows you to create shots and visuals you could never create in the real world," director Matthew DeLisi tells Forbes. "I believe that helped give this video the look, feel and emotion it has."

"The lyrics in this song are painful, but the music is happy and hopeful," adds mandolin player Brain Macdonald. "As humans, we all will understand that contrast at some point in our lives, and the pain allows us to find hope."

Pep Talks, Judah & the Lion's third album, was released in May. It also features the single "Over My Head."

Judah & the Lion will be hitting the festival circuit this summer, with performances at Summerfest, Lollapalooza and Outside Lands, among others. They'll also launch their own U.S. headlining tour August 9 in Memphis, Tennessee.
