Dirty Heads announce new album, "Super Moon"; listen to title track now

Five Seven RecordsDirty Heads have announced a new album called Super Moon. The follow-up to 2017's Swim Team is due out August 9.

The first preview of the new album comes in the form of its title track, which vocalist Jared "Dirty J" Watson describes as "a '70s sci-fi kung fu Western car chase soundtrack." You can download it now via digital outlets.

Dirty Heads recorded Super Moon in Nashville with acclaimed country producer Dave Cobb. That, coupled with the album's horse-and-cowboy cover, might seem to indicate that the band is venturing into country territory, but Watson says that's not really the case.

"The artwork was meant to spook some folk, definitely," he explains. "The running joke in the studio was, 'Don't worry, we aren't doing a country album,' but we were inspired by [Nashville] and the studio and the artists who recorded there before us."

Dirty Heads will be supporting Super Moon on a co-headlining tour with 311, which kicks off July 2 in Dayton, Ohio.
