Michelle Williams praises Beyoncé for her "awesome" 'The Lion King' role

Michelle Williams couldn't be more proud of Beyoncé playing the role of Nala in Disney's live-action adaptation of The Lion King

Ahead of the film's premiere in Los Angeles, on Tuesday night, the former Destiny Child's star spoke with  to laud Bey for her contributions to the movie's legacy and how it will impact her daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi.

"Now is the time [for] different voices, different experiences and what she is going to bring to it," the former Destiny's Child member told ET about Beyoncé's silver screen moment. "And because of her two little girls, what she's passing on for her family, I think, is really awesome."

Williams added: "And to have a full-circle moment, to be in something that you just salivated over when you were younger, is just awesome."

Michelle also said 1994's animated original The Lion King reminded her of many valuable life lessons. 

"I didn't realize the great lessons that I learned in that movie," she admitted.  "The adult messages that are in that movie are timeless."

She added: "One of my favorite quotes, Mufasa, saying, 'Never forget who you are.' And every now and then, we forget the crown that resides on your head and you forget who you are. Never forget who you are."

The Lion King hits theaters on July 19 from Disney, parent company of ABC News.
