Soulja Boy has reportedly been granted an early release from jail

ABC/Rick RowellSoulja Boy can officially resume his "biggest comeback," after being granted an early release from jail, nearly five months ahead of his sentence, TMZ reports.

According to the outlet, the "Crank That" rapper was released on Sunday from the Los Angeles facility where he had spent a little over three months since April 11. Soulja was initially sentenced to 240 days -- or approximately 8 months -- in jail, as well as 265 days of community service for a probation violation.

However, the 28-year-old was released early from jail due to a "combination of good behavior, time served and overcrowding."

Soulja's legal woes stem from a December 2014 conviction, in which the rapper was arrested on charges of carrying a loaded firearm in public. He was subsequently sentenced to 24 months of probation, which he violated in December 2016 after he was arrested again with yet another gun.

The following month, Soulja was charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor stemming from that arrest. In March 2017, the rapper was convicted on one of the felonies and given five years of probation.

Most recently, in February, police raided Soulja's home to investigate claims that he kidnapped and assaulted his then-girlfriend. Authorities claimed to have found ammunition in the home, which violated his probation.

Soulja has yet to share the news with fans or confirm his release via social media.
