Iggy Pop announces new album, "Free"; listen to title track now

Loma Vista Iggy Pop has announced a new album called Free. The 18th solo effort from the Godfather of Punk is due out September 6.

The mostly instrumental Free title track is available now via digital outlets.

Free was recorded with jazz artist Leron Thomas and guitar instrumentalist Noveller. It follows Pop's 2016 album Post Pop Depression, which he recorded in collaboration with Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.

"By the end of the tours following Post Pop Depression, I felt sure that I had rid myself of the problem of chronic insecurity that had dogged my life and career for too long," Pop says.

"But I also felt drained. And I felt like I wanted to put on shades, turn my back, and walk away. I wanted to be free."

He continues, "So this album just kind of happened to me, and I let it happen."

Here's the Free track list:

"Free"
"Loves Missing"
"Sonali"
"James Bond"
"Dirty Sanchez"
"Glow in the Dark"
"Page"
"We Are the People"
"Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night"
"The Dawn"
