U2's Bono Joins Advisory Board of Hurricane Sandy Relief Organization

Franck Prevel/Getty ImagesU2 singer Bono has become a member of the Honorary Advisory Board for the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.  New Jersey's first lady, Mary Pat Christie, announced on Tuesday that the famed rocker and humanitarian, along with NBC newsman Brian Williams, had joined the nonprofit organization's board.  Celebrities already serving on the charity's advisory board include Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi.

"It's an honor to be asked to support the governor [Chris Christie] and first lady in this ongoing effort," says Bono in a statement.  "New Jersey is always a highlight of any U2 tour.  What's inspiring about the New Jersey relief effort are not the names on the Board, which I'm humbled to serve with, but the volunteers who have rallied all over the state, in fact all over the tri-state area."

Mary Pat Christie launched the relief fund just four days after the devastating hurricane struck the northeastern U.S. this fall.  So far, it has raised more than $32 million dollars to help rebuild the damaged area.

"We are thrilled that Bono and Brian have lent their names to assist New Jersey families in rebuilding their lives and overcoming the most destructive storm in our state's history," says Mrs. Christie, who is the chair of the fund. "The dollars we have raised will support organizations on the front lines of the recovery effort and address the unmet needs of New Jersey communities."

Taylor Swift Opening Sunday Night's Grammy Awards

Photo Credit: Sarah BarlowTaylor Swift has landed the coveted opening performance spot on Sunday night's 55th Annual Grammy Awards, where she's up for three awards including Record of the Year for "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

Taylor's Grammy appearance comes on the heels of her performances at awards shows in France and Spain just last week. She's also preparing for the launch of her Red tour next month.  In the midst of this crazy schedule, Taylor relies on her friends to keep her grounded.

"My friends don’t treat me like anything different than who I am," Taylor says, "which is their friend who goes through things the same way that they do, and vents the same way, gets off of work and calls them and it’s like, 'We’ve got to get together.  I have to tell you about this.'"

Granted, some of Taylor's girlfriends are celebrities, like Selena Gomez or Dianna Agron from Glee.  She also maintains relationships with other pals who are in college right now or pursuing jobs outside the music industry.

Taylor says of her friends, "It doesn’t really matter what they do with their life.  We’re probably just gonna talk about boys and feelings anyway."

Of course, Taylor turns those conversations about boys and feelings into multi-platinum hits.  Her latest album, Red, has been certified quadruple platinum for sales of four million copies, and it's moved 5.4 million copies globally.

So "The Voice" Hasn't Produced Any Hits? Vicci Martinez Says Otherwise

Universal RepublicThe main argument for American Idol, and against X Factor and The Voice, is that the contestants of the latter two shows have failed to score any actual hits on the chart.  Well, things are turning around for at least one Voice alum.

Vicci Martinez, who tied for third place in the first season of The Voice, is actually doing pretty well on radio with her single "Come Along," featuring her mentor, Cee Lo Green.  The song appears on her major label debut, Vicci, which has been available digitally for a while, but arrives in stores in physical CD form on Tuesday.   She says that's a vote of confidence in her success, because the record company wouldn't have made an actual CD if the song hadn't been doing okay.

Talking about the decision to hold off on an actual in-store release, Vicci tells ABC News Radio, "People have said, 'The problem with The Voice is, there hasn't been anybody that's broken out,' and I think with me, they wanted to give it a chance to develop and see how people were gonna react."

She adds, "At first, I was just a little bit like, 'Why isn't my record in stores?' or, 'They've given up on me,' you know...[but] it kinda pushed me to go out and [promote the record] and let them know I believe in this song.  Now, the reward is so much sweeter, because it's like we proved ourselves."

One reason people might be paying attention to "Come Along" is because Cee Lo is featured on it, but she says that wasn't a given, even though he was her coach on the show.

"It was just an idea that was out there.  I didn't expect Cee Lo to even have time to do it.  That guy's a busy man," says Vicci.  "I had already recorded it, [and I] played it for him and he liked it so much, and said, you know, he'd definitely be up to doing something.  So, thankfully, he did."  The two plan to shoot a video soon.

Meanwhile, Vicci is traveling all over the country playing live shows, and she says she's been winning over people who never even watched her on the show.  "Sometimes people think that they're offending me because they say, 'Oh, I'm sorry.  I didn't see The Voice but I like this song!  I like what you're doing!'" she laughs.  "That to me, it's like, 'Well, good!'  That's even cooler to me because it's like the song is making a difference."

Vicci already had fans before she auditioned for The Voice, since she'd released many albums independently and played all around the country.  But she says that it doesn't matter how many fans you had before or even during the show: it's what happens after that counts.

"I don't think that makes any difference," she tells ABC News Radio.  "You know, if you have a good record and you're gonna put out good songs...I didn't win the show but I'm the one who's actually charting and I'm on the radio."  Says Vicci of The Voice, "It gives you that platform to get an audience but then, after that, you kinda have to hold your own, and it's up to you."

A Source Explains Why Beyonce Hit the Super Bowl Stage Without Jay-Z

IAm.Beyonce.comAs if Beyonce, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams hadn't brought enough star power to the New Orleans stage Sunday night, some Super Bowl spectators tweeted that the halftime show would have been even better if an appearance from Bey's hubby, Jay-Z, had been included.  To fans' disappointment, there was no drop-in by Jay-Z, not even when Beyonce performed a snippet from their collabo song "Crazy in Love."

So, what gives?  A source tells Us Weekly that Jay had considered hitting the stage with his wife, but decided at the last minute not to join her.  "He wanted that to be her moment and didn't want to take away from it," an insider tells the magazine. "She had been working her ass off."

Another last-minute decision involved the Destiny's Child hit "Bills, Bills, Bills."  A source tells Us Weekly that Bey, Kelly and Michelle had been rehearsing the 1999 smash, but "the band started talking about, 'How come they're not doing 'Bootylicious?'"

In the end, "Bootylicious" was added to the set, and "Bills, Bills, Bills" was scratched because it was "too slow" and didn't flow well with the high-energy performance.  The newest Destiny's Child single, "Nuclear," was also omitted from the halftime set list.

Beyonce seemed happy with the performance, and she sent love to her fellow game-night performers with a heartfelt note that she posted online.  "What a proud day for AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN!!!!" Beyonce declared in the note.

"Kelly, Michelle, Alicia, JHud," Beyonce wrote. "You are all beautiful, talented and show so much class!  It was an honor to perform at the Superbowl with you phenomenal ladies."

The Doors' John Densmore Says New Book Will Include "a Healing Statement" About Ex-Band Mates

Hilsinger-Mendelson PRDoors drummer John Densmore recently announced that he'll be publishing a new book titled The Doors: Unhinged in April that will delve into his legal battles with former band mates Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger.  Media sources describing the book have mentioned how the lawsuits led to an ongoing feud between Densmore and his fellow surviving Doors members, but the 68-yar-old musician now has posted a message on his official Facebook page clarifying some of the details about that aspect of his memoir.

"Recent Google alerts said my new book will expose the feud between the band members," he writes.  "May I re-phrase... Yes, it will trace the struggle [late singer] Jim [Morrison]'s estate & I went through to preserve the name The Doors, but at the end will have a healing statement of my caring for my musical brothers."

As previously reported, a recently issued press release about The Doors: Unhinged revealed that the book will discuss how Densmore "weathered betrayals by his 'musical family,' character assassinations and the rising fear that he would lose everything in his efforts to stand up for what he believed in."  The drummer, along with Morrison's estate, went to court to stop The Doors' music from being used in commercial endorsements and to block Manzarek and Krieger from incorporating the band's name into their own side group.

Densmore is self-publishing The Doors: Unhinged using Amazon.com's CreateSpace and Kindle Direct Publishing platforms.  The book will be released on April 17.

Ed Sheeran Convinced He’ll Lose Grammy to fun.

Credit: Dan CurwinIf Ed Sheeran were to bet on who's going to win the Grammy for Song of the Year, his money would not be on himself.  Ed predicts that come this Sunday night, he'll lose the Song of the Year Grammy, for which he's nominated, to fun.'s  "We Are Young."

"I'm pretty sure fun. will win.  I think that song is great... there was no other song bigger than that last year, and if you were gonna go by that, they'll win... I'm usually good at calling these things," Ed says during an interview with MTV.  But the British singer/songwriter says he wouldn't be too upset, because he's a big fan of the band.  "I've got the fun. album. I think fun. are great," he tells MTV.

Ed's nominated for his song "The A Team," and in addition to "We Are Young," the competition includes Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" and the song "Adorn" by R&B star Miguel.  While Ed says he hasn't really gotten into Miguel yet, he adds, "I've been told that I'm gonna love him."

But whether or not Ed goes home with an actual Grammy award, there's a 100 percent chance he'll commemorate the occasion with a tattoo of the award logo.  Ed tells MTV, "I'm gonna get a Grammy tattoo if I win a Grammy.  I'm gonna get one anyway.  A nomination, man, it's the s**t."

Brantley Gilbert Auctioning Off Ram Truck to Benefit Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans

Ram TrucksYou may never be able to chill out with Brantley Gilbert cruising down the road in his truck, but now you can at least own Brantley's truck.  He's been driving a 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn for the past year, and that truck is now up for bid at Ebay.com/RoadtoRamJam as part of the Road to the Ram Jam All-Star Country Music Series.

Brantley made sure to take good care of the truck, though he tells ABC News Radio, "We've had it in a mud hole or two, and it's done some donuts.  But it's still in perfect condition."

In order to keep the truck in great shape, Brantley wouldn't allow smoking or dogs in the vehicle.

He says, "You know, I've got a pitbull.  I may or may not have kept that rule, but I hope I broke it in well for 'em."

Proceeds from the sale of Brantley's truck will go to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, or IAVA.  That organization helps soldiers find work and education when they get out of the service, and Brantley supports military-related causes like this because of his cousin, who is currently serving as a Marine.

"I definitely, definitely support 'em," Brantley says.  "I miss my boy too.  I'm ready for him to come home, so this is my way of kind of keeping in contact."

Brantley is one of five country stars auctioning off their Ram trucks for a good cause.  Kellie Pickler raised more than $36,000 last week for the USO Warrior and Family Care program.  Billy Currington, Easton Corbin and Zac Brown Band are also taking part in the Road to the Ram Jam campaign.
