Georgia-Pacific Plant Explosion Injures Eight

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(CORRIGAN, Texas) -- Eight people were reported injured on Saturday during a fiery explosion at a Georgia Pacific plywood plant.

The explosion occurred at about 6:18 p.m. local time and was put out about two hours later, the Corrigan Police Department told ABC News. Of the eight injured, at least three were taken to nearby hospitals by helicopter. Police did not immediately release information regarding whether anyone was missing or what caused the explosion.

The plant, about 90 miles north of Houston, is about 170 miles east of West, Texas, where an explosion at a fertilizer plant last year killed 15 people and injured more than 100.
