Harvard Student Accused of Making False Bomb Threats via Email

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(CAMBRIDGE, Mass.) -- A 20-year-old Harvard student is accused of making false bomb threats in order to avoid taking a final exam on Monday.

Federal authorities say that Eldo Kim emailed a number of bomb threats to Harvard University offices including the school's police office and student newspaper. Final exams were cancelled or postponed while law enforcement officers investigated the threats.

According to ABC's Boston affiliate, WCVB, the emails sent by 20-year-old Eldo Kim read, "shrapnel bombs placed in science center, sever hall, emerson hall, thayer hall, 2/4. guess correctly. be quick for they will go off soon."

Authorities interviewed Kim on Wednesday and the student eventually admitted that he was hoping to avoid a final exam scheduled for Monday morning. Kim was scheduled to take a final exam in Emerson Hall at 9 a.m. He told them that when he heard the fire alarm go off, he knew that his plan had worked.

Kim is expected to appear in U.S. District Court on Wednesday.
