Louisiana State University Evacuated on Bomb Threat
Jupiterimages/Thinkstock(BATON ROUGE, La.) -- A bomb threat forced the evacuation of Louisiana State University’s Baton Rouge campus on Monday.
Students received a text message from campus security before lunch time, a short while after a threatening phone call came in around 10:30 a.m. A hazmat team, which includes bomb dogs and an explosives unit, was deployed to the LSU campus today at the request of the school’s police department, authorities said.
A notice on the school’s website currently reads: “All events on the LSU campus have been cancelled for the remainder of the day as LSU Police, supported by multiple law enforcement agencies, continue to investigate a bomb threat that prompted the evacuation of the LSU campus this morning. It is important for all members of the LSU community -- faculty, staff and students -- to remain off campus unless specifically instructed to return.”
