Missing Colorado Hikers Found Dead

Thinkstock Images/Getty Images(BOULDER, Colo.) -- A father and his daughter, who were reported missing in Colorado after going hiking on Missouri Mountain, were found dead on Saturday.

A relative of Dr. Michael von Gortler and his daughter, Makana von Gortler told ABC News that the bodies of the father and his daughter were found by authorities. Details about the discovery of their remains were, however, not immediately available.

The pair was reported missing on Tuesday, and was last heard from on June 22, when Makana sent a text message to her boyfriend saying that she and her father were going to climb the 14,000-foot-high mountain in Chaffee County that day and then drive back on June 23.

Since the two were reported missing, crews had been searching the mountain using canine searchers, technical climbers and helicopters.
