Negotiations Continue as BART Strike Possibility Looms

Curtis Martin/Getty Images(SAN FRANCISCO) -- Union workers for Bay Area Rapid Transit are continuing negotiations with management in the hopes of avoiding a strike.

Over the weekend, signs emerged that the discussions between BART and the unions were beginning to show signs of progress. A pair of union representatives told ABC San Francisco affiliate KGO that they felt the likelihood of a strike was decreasing.

BART workers went on strike for five days in July and were prepared to do so again on Friday before agreeing to negotiate over the weekend. The negotiations focus largely on salaries and workers' contributions to their health and pension plans.
