(NEW ORLEANS) -- A New Orleans woman gave her final farewell in style, sitting in a chair with cigarettes and a case of beer as her loved ones paid their respects -- at her funeral.
Miriam Burbank, 53, was a "party girl," according to her family. Relatives asked the funeral home to set up a bar-themed send-off, complete with Burbank propped up in sunglasses donning black and gold fingernails in honor of her favorite football team, the New Orleans Saints.
A bottle of Jack Daniels was also in the background, as she was said to have frequented her neighborhood bars.
"I didn't want her to just go, just go," daughter Zymora Kimball told ABC affiliate WGNO. "So I had to do something amazing, so she's never forgotten."
Lisa Moore, a family friend, said the funeral director did a great job capturing Burbank's spirit.
"I think it's amazing, for him to capture someone's actual life, their lifestyle, the way they lived," Moore said.
It's not the first time the funeral home held a themed service, according to employee Lyelle Bellard.
"We celebrate life. We celebrate the passing. We celebrate the home-going of people," Bellard said.
