Oakland Raiders Owner Al Davis Dies at 82

Justin Sullivan/Getty Images(OAKLAND, Calif.) -- Al Davis, the renegade owner of the Oakland Raiders who played a big role in shaping the National Football League as we know it today, died Saturday at the age of 82.

Rick Gentile, professor of sports management and director of the Seton Hall Sports Poll was asked how he views Davis's legacy.

"I think he'll be remembered mostly as the owner of the Oakland Raiders and all that that implies, as a rebel, as a guy who created a  great franchise in Oakland, who won Superbowls," Gentile said.
"I think he'll be remembered as a maverick owner in a time when there are so many cookie cutters."
