(WEST, Texas) -- Three-and-a-half months after a devastating explosion in Central Texas, the White House is taking action meant to prevent a similar tragedy in the future.
When the West Fertilizer Company caught fire and blew up in April, few people living in the surrounding community knew how much ammonium nitrate was being stored there.
On Thursday, President Obama issued an executive order that would allow local governments and regulators know what is being stored and in what quantities at facilities like West Fertilizer.
More than a dozen people died and hundreds lost their homes to that explosion.
