Shooting Near Texas A&M Leaves Suspect, Two Others Dead

Thinkstock/Comstock(COLLEGE STATION, Texas) -- A gunman was killed by police near Texas A&M University in College Station after shooting five people and killing two, including a peace officer who was attempting to serve him an eviction notice.

Constable Bryan Bachman, 41, was shot and killed when he attempted to serve the notice, police said. The gunman then pinned down responding officers, wounding one as well as a civilian. Two other officers were treated for non life threatening injuries.

Bachmann had been a Brazos County Deputy since 1993 and had served as a constable for 13 years, according to ABC affiliate WFAA.

Just before 12:30 p.m. CDT the university issued an electronic alert, warning students of an "active shooter" in a residential area near the school's football stadium.

By 12:44 p.m CDT, students were alerted that the gunman was in custody but to continue to avoid the area.
