(MILFORD, Conn.) -- The Connecticut teenager accused of fatally stabbing a fellow high school student appeared publicly in court for the first time Friday.
Christopher Plaskon, a high school junior, is being charged with murder in the slaying of fellow junior Maren Sanchez, who died last week in a hallway at Jonathan Law High School in Milford.
Police are investigating whether the attack was related to Sanchez rejecting Plaskon's invitation to the junior prom.
Defense attorney Richard Meehan said Plaskon displays signs of active psychosis.
The judge transferred Plaskon, 16, to a jail for young men and placed him on suicide watch.
Plaskon's probable cause hearing has been set for June 4.
