US Navy Begins Anti-Terrorism Drill

Photo Courtesy - U.S. Navy/Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Robert Stirrup(WASHINGTON) -- The U.S. Navy will kick off the nation's largest anti-terrorism drill on Tuesday.

Exercise Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield is an annual drill designed to train and prepare sailors for the possibility of multiple attacks.  The Navy says the exercise is not in response to any specific threat, but rather to identify where forces are vulnerable.

This year's drill will run through Friday across various naval bases and installations in the continental U.S., Hawaii and Guam.  Heavy security will be in place along the Navy's waterfront and at bases, and the public may see sailors in battle gear.
