(LOS ANGELES) -- Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley has confirmed Tuesday morning's arrests of Bell, California's former city manager Robert Rizzo, as well as many current and former council members. They are charged with misappropriating more than $5.5 million, including receiving compensation for nonexistant committee meetings and making illegal personal loans. At a press conference, Cooley said they are "alleging they used the tax dollars collected from the hard-working citizens of Bell as their own piggy bank, which they looted at will." Along with Rizzo, the DA’s Bureau of Investigation arrested former assistant city manager Angela Spaccia, Mayor Oscar Hernandez, Vice Mayor Teresa Jacobo, council members George Mirabal, Luis Artiga and former council members George Cole and Victor Bello.
