Mom Allegedly Hires Strippers for Teen Son's Birthday Party

South Glens Falls P.D.(SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y.) -- A South Glens Falls, N.Y., mother of four is facing jail time after she is said to have hired two strippers to dance at her 16-year-old's birthday party. The birthday party took place in early November, but racy pictures surfaced on Facebook this month, causing a parent whose son was at the party to alert local police.

The South Glens Falls Police Department has charged Judy Viger with five counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Police say that five of the attendees were younger than 17, and according to the New York Daily News, some were as young as 13.

The birthday party took place in a room at the Spare Time Bowling Center and had 80 people in attendance, the Daily News reported, including other parents. The bowling alley released the following statement to ABC News:

"Spare Time Bowling Center can confirm that a private party did take place on November 3rd, 2012. We neither arranged for (nor paid for) the entertainment that was provided at the party. Spare Time has been cooperating fully with the investigation and will continue to do so."

In a press release, Police accused 33-year-old Viger of "organizing, managing, and paying" for the party, where two strippers performed "personal and intimate dances for some party attendees."

The strippers, who work for the company Tops in Bottoms, aren't facing charges.

Viger could not immediately be reached for comment, but posted on her Facebook page that she and her family have been going through a "difficult time."

South Glens Falls is a small town 200 miles north of New York City. Viger has her first court appearance scheduled for March 7.

Boy Turns Birthday Party into Toys for Tots Drive

Jupiterimages/Thinkstock(OWASSO, Okla.) -- An Oklahoma boy’s generosity on his birthday has helped a local Toys for Tots drive to gather nearly 500 gifts for needy kids after he told his mother that he wanted to forgo presents for his December birthday, and ask for donations instead.

Chase Rowe of Owasso, Okla. has been a participating with his family in the Toys for Tots drive at the nearby Rejoice Church for the past few years, going with his mom to purchase toys and helping distribute them to the needy. His mom, Tiffany Rowe, told ABC News that when she had a conversation with him this year about what he wanted to do for his eighth birthday on Dec. 17, Chase told her that what he really wanted to do was to give toys to other kids.

“We were discussing with him what we can do for a birthday, when we’re limited on time. We asked him, ‘What do you really want?’ He said he wanted his friends to bring unopened toys to bring to his party to donate,” she said.

Soon a local business, Red Dot Laser Tag, got wind of Chase’s generosity, and decided to donate a mobile laser tag unit for the kids to use at the party. Another local business, Game On Party Truck, followed suit, and on Sunday, Chase’s party was a rousing success.

“We had over 100 kids, and that didn’t include the parents. We had at least 200 people circulated throughout the day,” Tiffany Rowe said.

In total, she said, they collected nearly 500 toys to be donated at the party, where the kids enjoyed popcorn and snow cones — Chase’s only request — and, of course, some cookies.

Rowe said that they welcomed anyone who wanted to come to the event.  They circulated flyers to Chase’s classmates, his karate teammates, and through the public schools. She added that Chase is already planning next year’s drive.

“If you ask him what he really wants, he wants kids to get toys for Christmas,” she said. “He’s adamant about that.”

Texas Dad Turns Boy's Birthday Party into Massacre of Wife's Family

Hemera Technologies/Thinkstock(GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas) -- An 11-year-old Texas boy was being cared for by relatives Monday after his roller rink birthday party turned into a massacre when his father opened fire on his estranged wife and her family and then killed himself.

The town of Grand Prairie was stunned by the bloodshed that erupted this weekend when Tan Do, 35, pulled out a gun and ushered the children out of the way before shooting his estranged wife Trini Do, 29, and her family. Five people died and four others were wounded before Do shot and killed himself.

Family members and others in the Vietnamese community in Grand Prarie now fear for the future of the now-orphaned boy who witnessed his family shot down.

A police department spokesman said of the boy, "He is with other family members."

About 30 relatives and friends gathered at Forum Roller World in Grand Prairie to celebrate the boy's birthday with skating and music. But at 7 p.m. the boy's father moved the children out of the way and began firing at his estranged wife and her family.

"It was so fast. It probably felt like 10 or 15 minutes' worth and it was probably less than a minute and 15 seconds," skating rink owner Walt Hedrick told ABC's Dallas affiliate, WFAA. "There was nothing anyone could do."

Tan Do killed his estranged wife Trini Do, her sisters Michelle Ta, 28, Lynn Ta, 16, and her brother Hien Ta, 21, as well as Trini Do's sister-in-law, Thuy Nguyen, 25. He then turned the gun on himself.

Revelers Mark Ronald Reagan's 100th Birthday

Photo Courtesy - ABC News(SIMI VALLEY, Calif.) -- Thousands of Ronald Reagan's former aides and supporters gathered at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif., on Sunday to celebrate what would have been the former president's 100th birthday.

Reagan, who died in 2004 at age 93, was celebrated from Simi Valley, Calif., where revelers packed a tribute concert featuring the Beach Boys; to Dixon, Ill., where neighbors gathered near Reagan's boyhood home for a celebratory gala.

"Ronnie would be thrilled and is thrilled to have all of you share in his 100th birthday," Nancy Reagan said at the Simi Valley event Sunday. "Doesn't seem possible, but that's what it is."

Earlier in the day, Nancy Reagan laid a wreath at her late husband's gravesite.

Joining Mrs. Reagan on stage was former secretary of state and Reagan chief of staff James Baker, The Beach Boys, and a six-foot tall birthday cake.

"He launched the Reagan revolution and he showed us how to be the very best Americans we could be," Baker said.

Tributes ranging from the formal to the quirky were coordinated by the Ronald Reagan Foundation and the Reagan Centennial Commission, a panel formed for the anniversary by Congress in 2009 with President Obama's approval.

Americans of all political stripes hold Reagan in high esteem, according to a recent Gallup poll, ranking him second out of the nine most recent former presidents from the last 50 years. Only Kennedy bested Reagan in the poll of Americans' retrospective views of how well presidents handled the job.

Reagan, who served for two terms, is frequently credited with helping to bring the Cold War to an end, putting the U.S. economy on sound fiscal footing, and instilling a sense of optimism and pragmatism in Americans. The theme of his centennial celebration is "inspired freedom, changed the world."

3-Year-Old's Party Turns Into Bloody Brawl

Image Courtesy - Getty Images(ELMWOOD PLACE, Ohio) -- Police in Ohio walked into a hail of broken beer bottles and flying fists when called to respond to a blood-soaked brawl involving 75 people at a 3-year-old's birthday party. More than 20 officers from seven police departments were called to the scene in Elmwood Place, Ohio, early Tuesday and had to wait before entering the social hall as a melee of flying bottles and chairs erupted inside. Fifteen of the 150 people attending the party were injured, according to police, and five were treated at a hospital including one man who required eye surgery after being hit with a broken bottle. The other four were treated for cuts and released. None of the 30 children at the party sustained injuries, police said. The fight started around 1 a.m. at a Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall when tensions flared between the father of the 3-year-old birthday girl, Joselyn, and her mother's new boyfriend. Despite the number of people involved, only one man, the girl's father Roman Marcelo-Hernandez, 26, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated.
