(WASHINGTON) -- President Obama announced Friday he will renew his call for a $250 Economic Recovery Payment for senior citizens, veterans and the disabled. The announcement comes on the heels of the Social Security Administration's inability to provide a cost of living adjustment for Social Security benefits for the second year in a row. Speaker Nancy Pelosi will bring the proposal to a vote in Congress.
In 2009, 56 million Americans benefited from the first Economic Recovery Payment under the Recovery Act, including roughly 50 million Social Security recipients.
