(ARLINGTON, Texas) -- Former president George W. Bush narrowly missed being hit by a foul ball at Monday night's Texas Rangers-Chicago White Sox baseball game.
It was the sixth inning when Rangers infielder Adrian Beltre popped one toward the on-deck circle and the former first couple. As the ball dropped into the owner's box, former First Lady Laura Bush dodged out of its trajectory while her husband and White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski both attempted -- and missed -- the catch.
"I just told him just because he was the president doesn't mean I won't jump on top of him," Pierzynski joked, according to ESPN. "Him and his wife got a good chuckle out of that one."
President Bush's Rangers beat the White Sox 4-0.
