(NORRIDGE, Ill.) -- A three-year-old boy is dead following a tragic accident at a games and amusement center in a Chicago suburb Saturday.
Authorities are investigating what caused the boy to slip under a safety bar and fall to his death while riding a roller coaster with his twin brother Saturday at the Go Bananas entertainment center in Norridge, Illinois. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“When he actually fell off the ride, it was at a low point,” said Sgt. Louis Orlando of the Norridge Police Department. “I believe it was at a bend, and that’s what maybe--probably caused him to fall out.”
Officials say the facility has been shut down by the Village of Norridge, and will remain closed until all rides have been inspected.
The identity of the child was not immediately released, pending notification of his family.
