(SANTA ANA, Calif.) -- The 20-year-old son of former Enron President Jeffrey Skilling was found dead inside his apartment at Chapman College in Santa Ana, California earlier this week.
Police who discovered the body of John Taylor Skilling Tuesday night don't believe that foul play was involved in the death of Jeffrey Skilling's youngest son. Authorities are investigating the possibility that the college student might have taken his own life following a recent break-up.
Various prescription drug bottles were next to John Taylor Skilling's body, although toxicology results won't be available for up to six weeks.
Jeffrey Skilling is currently serving a 24-year sentence for fraud and insider trading that led to the collapse of energy trading giant Enron in late 2001. He was described as "distraught, devastated, heartbroken" at the loss of his son, nicknamed J.T. Skilling's attorney is appealing to prison officials to allow his client to attend his son's funeral.
