What's Next for Controversial Educator?

Photo Courtesy - Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Outgoing Washington, D.C. School Chancellor Michelle Rhee isn't saying much about what she plans to do next after her resignation on Wednesday.  Rhee, who ruffled a lot of educational feathers by firing teachers and closing schools, told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos she wouldn't mind heading west to be closer to her fiance, the mayor of Sacramento, California.

Rhee says her passion is in K-12 education.  "I think our nation’s public schools are really doing a disservice to our children particularly in urban areas and I want to figure out where I can be, which one would take me closer to my fiancé but also where I can have the most impact."

Randi Weingarten, of the American Federation of Teachers, told The Atlantic Rhee had a "disdain for relationships" and Rhee conceded on Good Morning America Thursday some people think she could have been nicer...but others tell her she couldn't have gotten results if she had used a lighter touch.

Rhee says she and Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty committed to doing what was best for the kids and not being influenced by pushback from other interests.  She says she has no regrets about her three years in the district.
