Hunt for Mom and Boy Believed Kidnapped by Man Sought in Triple Homicide

UPDATE: Matthew Slocum is in police custody as of Wednesday night. Four-month-old Raymond Slocum and his mother, Loretta Colegrove are safe, and the amber alert the child has been canceled, according to New Hampshire State Police.

(NEW YORK) -- Police in three states have launched a manhunt for a man who is wanted for questioning in a triple homicide and is believed to have kidnapped his girlfriend and their four-year-old son.

An Amber alert has been issued for four-month-old Raymond Slocum. He is believed to be with his mother Loretta Colegrove, 25, and his father Matthew Slocum.

Police believe Slocum, 24, is armed and holding the infant and Colegrove against her will.

The search for Slocum extends across New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

Three people were found dead early Wednesday in a house fire in White Creek, N.Y. The victims were Dan Harrington, a deputy highway superintendent, his son and his wife Lisa Harrington, who was Slocum's mother.

Police say Slocum is traveling in a black 2003 Ford Mustang. The three were last seen driving on North Street in Adams, Mass., around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Connecticut State Police think Slocum my have been spotted near New Haven, Conn., Wednesday afternoon.

Slocum, who is a parolee, has a lengthy police record and served a prison sentence for grand larceny between 2006 and 2010, according to Glens Falls Post-Star.

Slocum has swastika tattoos on his arms and was last seen wearing a black skull-and-bones T-shirt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
